Yulie Foka-Kavalieraki has a PhD in the Philosophy of Social Sciences from the Department of History and Philosophy of Science at the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens. For her doctoral research, she received the Heraclitus II European scholarship program. After the completion of her PhD she conducted postdoctoral research in the field of bioeconomy at the National Technical University of Athens with a scholarship from the State Scholarships Foundation-Siemens program, studying the socioeconomic impact of the applications of biotechnology in Greece and other southeastern Mediterranean countries.
Her areas of expertise are bioethics, bioeconomy, decision making and risk analysis, economic psychology, behavioral economics, political philosophy and philosophy of social sciences. She has a MSc in Cognitive Sciences from the University of Athens where she completed her master’s dissertation at the A´ Neurological Clinic of Eginition Hospital, working in the fields of neuropsychology and neurolinguistics. She currently studies Biology at the University of Athens and she holds a BA in English Studies and a BA in Italian Studies from the same University.
She has been teaching a graduate course in philosophy of social sciences and economic psychology at the Department of History and Philosophy of Science at the University of Athens for several years and she also teaches economic psychology at the e-learning program of the University of Athens. She has published her work at peer-reviewed international and Greek scientific journals and she has participated in numerous conferences, lectures and seminars in Greece and abroad with oral presentations or as an invited speaker.
She is the author of the book A Short Introduction to Economic Psychology (Papadopoulos, 2017).
