KEFiM welcomes the vote in Parliament regarding article 8 of the Ministry of Labor and Social Solidarity’s bill entitled “Measures for the Promotion of the Institutions of Adoption” regarding the recognition of the possibility of homosexual couples adopting children.

The only criterion in this crucial issue for individual rights is for us to ensure a healthy and positive environment for children, fit for the complete development of their personality – and a safe judge of this possibility is the scientific community that has for decades been determined that the fulfillment of these conditions does not depend on sexual orientation of the foster parents.

We congratulate the members of those factions who supported this initiative, especially the ones who did not hide behind opposing party lines. We hope – and we will contribute to it as much as we can – that the successful example of this decision will liberate other members of Parliament, members of the public and active citizens, to join us in the common struggle for the practical and definite elimination of all sorts of prejudices and negative discrimination.
